COMIC 500 IS OUT!!!!
Jordan and I spent the whole year making this, we hope you enjoy it! If it’s not working for you, please leave a message with your OS, browser version and a description of the bug and we’ll try to fix it asap :D
I want to take this opportunity to thank some people who have helped us along the way. Firstly, thank you so much to our diligent and meticulous testers who helped us make this work. I also want to thank all of my awesome patrons who have supported me this year. You guys are so lovely and I couldn’t do what I do without you. Last but not least, thank YOU for reading exocomics for another year! Thank you for all your likes, shares, and comments. All of you brighten my day, everyday.
Comic 500 will be up for four weeks and we’ll be back with a new comic on Wednesday, 10th of January. In the meantime, you can follow me on facebook, twitter, instagram, reddit or google+ for more artwork and updates. You can also support me by giving to my Patreon. Patrons get access to neat behind-the-scenes content such as extra doodles, writing and artwork progression gifs. You can also support me by giving a one-off donation or by purchasing something from the store. I love creating free content so any support would be greatly appreciated!
Happy holidays, stay safe and I’ll see you in 2018!!

Wow! Great work! I just finished it 100%. I love the ending constellation! Great work, best comic/game I've ever read/played.
I did notice some issues:
1. The constellation picture is cropped on lower resolutions/small window sizes. (For the developer, the div tag needs the "map-overlay" class or "background-size: cover;" CSS.)
2. In Firefox, the game prevents me from entering spaces in the comments... I'm currently writing this comment in a text editor, and will have to copy+paste in order to post it.
And I have a question... looking at the code, there seems to be a text-only version of the game, or dialog/commentary of some sort. Where is this used?
Brandon14 Dec '17
Took a while, but all endings unlocked! Super fun, thanks Li you guys rock.
Kytsuine14 Dec '17
Very good work! Quite a fun little game. I did encounter two difficulties: I don't know the spider's name at the shark ending (I guessed Mark, which was wrong, and a Google search on site:exocomics.com for spider didn't give me any help there. Might archive binge tonight to figure that one out.) The second difficulty came at turning left instead of right for the shark ending; if you then choose to go down, you come to a corner with no choice to go around it. You have to backtrack (which leads to another lettuce ending.)
Michael14 Dec '17
How do I find out the answer to the 3rd question?
Robyn14 Dec '17
Telanis14 Dec '17
I can't seem to find the coin. The code says it's under the duck but nothing seems to be clickable in the scenes with the duck. And yeah this page grabs the space bar and keys it into the game so commenting is difficult.

@Spacebarless you should try actually going different directions in the maze....

BUT HOW MANY CANDLES DOES THE HUNGRY CAT HAVE?!
Ryan14 Dec '17
Sytana14 Dec '17
Amber14 Dec '17
There are multiple options in the maze so if you explore more you'll find the answers to the shark's questions. I am trying to figure out how to get to the 4 southern most pictures on the map...
Max14 Dec '17
Wow this is amazing! Words alone cannot describe the sheer awesomeness, hence I took the effort to open a text editor in order to have a proper spaced comment :D
Jackie14 Dec '17
For me it stops at the ham/tuna screen like that's the end. Android 8.0.0 using chrome.
R & R14 Dec '17
That. Was. AWESOME.
We always love your special divisible-by-50 comics, but this one simply boggles the mind. Wildest dreams: blown to smithereens!

DrCryllus14 Dec '17
Fantastic! utterly baffled by the last 2 (1?) paths- the one in the bottom right. tried waiting 20+minutes on the shark page but no luck. Also for people looking for help- look for small asterisks on the map. I tricked spacebar into working by refreshing and canceling the page before the game loaded btw.
Nate14 Dec '17
I found a swear word! Ahhhh!!! XD
DrCryllus, feeling foolish14 Dec '17
Derp. I would have sworn i got to the end with the tuna sammich already.... oh well. Great game, good ending, nicely hidden elements, Amazing Job!

How do I get to the bottoms left corner?? :C
Ambu14 Dec '17
For those of you who who are having trouble with the sharks questions it's Dave, 8, and Moby dick.
Steven15 Dec '17
Sec15 Dec '17
This is really cool. Unfortunately i seem to be too stupid for this. I can't figure out where I would get the spider name, and how to reach the left three options. Until then I guess I'm gonna take a few more trips on the stairs-go-slide :-)
Sec15 Dec '17
Ah, nevermind. I didn't realize you could click on stuff in the pictures until now.
Kala15 Dec '17
If you've got a keyboard you can use the arrow keys and you can hold them down to progress through some parts quickly.
I'd strongly recommend giving this a proper try because it's good fun, but if there's something you just can't find, here is a walkthrough.
- 1 (Cup): Don't go adventuring
- 2 (Lettuce): Take the bottom left exit in the Maze
- 3 (Fishbone): Take top right exit in Maze, turn left in the Light Room, give an incorrect answer
- 4 (Cat): Turn right in the Light Room, wait for the Cube, go right at the Toll Booth
- 5 (Photo): Same as Ending 4, but before leaving the Light Room, pick up the photo by clicking on it, then choose No at the end
- 6 (Coin): Take the coin before leaving Home, then go up at the Toll Booth
- 7 (Snail): Take the bottom right exit in the Maze, do not give the Statue food, click on the shoulder snail and allow it to come along
- 8 (Popcorn): Take the Tuna Sandwich before leaving home, click on the spider at the start of the Maze and use info from paths 6 and 7 to answer the Shark's questions (Dave, 8, Moby Dick), go right at the Toll Booth, and lose the ghost's game
- 9 (Fish): Same as Ending 8, but win the ghost's game
OTHER THINGS TO SEE
- Choose to give the Statue food.
- Take the right path in Ending 6 before going up.
- Click on the janitor blobby in the spike room.
- Click on the arrow blobby after the Statue.
- Click on the blobbies in the background during the boat ride.
- Click on the beetle bar after you get it to view the ingredients.
- Click on the boulder after it stops.

Has anyone figured out how to super complete it? Li says there's something else!
Kiwi15 Dec '17
This was a hell of an anniversary comic. I like interactive stories, and I love yours.
I've got one request, though: can we have a button to go to the map without finishing the story? It would make exploring the different paths more fun (at least that's my opinion).
A_R15 Dec '17
Everyone who is stuck: follow Dr Cyllus hint that asteriks are greyed out, (getting past the shark to the true ending is after you have done every other route), if you are then stuck on an ending Kala's post can help.
Thank you to Dr Cryllus for pointing out that the asteriks are there but just greyed out, I saw them as I got them and managed to get most of them but when I looked closer at the map noticed there were a couple I was missing (I knew I was missing at least the coin and so then found where it was through the missing asterisks). Also thank you to Kala for helping me to find the final (photo) ending, I had already found the photo but went a different route and so didn't end up at the treasure room (I think I was just trying to get the photo asterisk and so probably just jumped down the lettuce slide).
A_R15 Dec '17
Amber, I looked at the map again as you mentioned Li said there was more, and I noticed one asterisk I had missed. Once you do that you get a nice looking (and clever as it transforms the asterisks) "Good job" screen.
Lily15 Dec '17
i loooooove eeeet
Mick16 Dec '17
Hiro16 Dec '17
That was fantastic! Very challenging, but once you realise some things in the pictures are clickable it's all just a matter of time before you can find them all and get 100% completion. My hats off to you and Jordan, this made my evening. :D

This was *awesome*! And while playing it, it struck me how much Shoelace is like the Gromit to Li's Wallace...
AP17 Dec '17
Never commented before, but it was just too good to leave it as always, without a trace of appreciation. It took me a lot of time, made me search for clues in code (no big cheating, just taking small hints) and was SOOOOOO FUN. Thank you!

brb making a map
yahway66617 Dec '17
Totally awesome! I love it. Here’s a rudimentary map of the maze I made if anyone’s interested. Also, when typing a comment the space bar tries to progress the story instead of actually making spaces. Maybe make the game Enter key only, so it doesn’t accidentally respond to spacebar input?

This was pretty awesome! I had to cheat for 2 of the paths, but I loved exploring this one! You two made something really awesome here! And it’s beautiful as always!

vitupera23 Dec '17
Congratulations on 500 comics! Every one of them belongs in a museum XD This game is incredible, it's been so much fun. I have one question though-- I'm not sure what it takes to get all the asterisks? I've found all nine endings, but I can't figure out how to fill in all the asterisks at once. (I did the cup ending, but now that I've done other endings that asterisk is grey, I've gone through the maze a bunch but that asterisk is still grey, etc.) Am I missing a step, or is that a bug?
Bensaret28 Dec '17
A_R2 Jan '18
Vitupera, Getting the coin gives you an asterisk, simiarly for finding out the spider's name, etc. Though rather than having to hunt through the whole map to find out where the grey asterisks help you narrow it down. So since you've got all the endings then you must have got quite a few asterisks already. You can't get them all in one go as they are on different routes, but once you've unlocked an asterisk it stays unlocked.

Any hints on the asterix just above the Light Room dot? I got the janitor hidden after you press the red button but I can't find this one. I clicked every inch of those panels between janitor and light room...

VV, there's something you can find and look at at the party that will give you a new option in the treasure room.

I LOVE this game! The drawings are amazingly cute and there is so much replay value thanks to the little details and alternate endings. So cool :)
Killy12 Jan '18
Pheeew. Light Room asterisk was the least clear one - took me a while to find.
It is in the Light Room and it is not the photo.
Would be nice if arrows had bigger clickable area and the same for every frame size. But keyboard navigation is the best once you found it.
Anime_Rpg15 Jan '18
Yes, didn't realise about keyboard navigation until I had almost 100% completed.
Gobbo, that would either be clicking on the light ray (or pressing up) when you first enter, or looking at the photo when you take the left route.

Love this :-) It was hard (I've got like 75% myself) but I have my constellation!
Oh yes, and space does not work, but copy paste does .-)
